WTF is The VMR!?

WTF is The VMR?:

Wow… no need to swear at us right off the bat… pshhh…

The Visual Minority Report is a a funny-ass podcast which deals with issues concerning the depiction of minority groups in popular culture.  Hosted by wildly famous, world renowned, completely humble GENIUSES, Luvia Petersen and Omari Newton.

Our goal is simple and ever changin; we started out wanting to interview visible minorities who work in arts and entertainment and find out how the EFF they ‘made it’ in this crazy biz. Then it evolved to getting up on a soap box and talking about stuff that made us groan.  (see Oscar Rant)  Who knows where this podcast will take us to next. Really, The VMR is a safe place to have tough conversations and hopefully do it in a way that will encourage listeners to keep the conversation going.

We hope to make listeners laugh. We hope to inspire other artists. We hope people learn something.  Mostly, we hope to be wildly famous pod casters who, eventually, sell out to corporate sponsors and spend entire episodes shamelessly name dropping products. Example:

Omari: Hey Luvia! Those are some SWEEET NIKE AIR JORDANS you are wearing. Did you get them at FOOT LOCKER?

Luvia: Why, YES Omari! I ONLY shop at FOOT LOCKER! Would you like another Diet Pepsi to wash down your McDonald’s Happy Meal?

( It’s gonna be great! )

hahhaha I love you both!!! some friends on twitter turned me on to continuum.. and living in Alabama I don’t get to see the regular seasons of it. Love the series and you both are amazing actors. I think this is an awesome platform to bring up the issues of any type of minority in the entertainment industry..

  2. Love your podcast, very refreshing. I am not sure if you have fully mapped out the space of minorities you wish to consider but I was wondering if you thought about exploring the experiences, difficulties and successes of people suffering with mental illness (for example Bipolar, depression, schizophrenia, autism) or non-traditional body (morbidly obese, dwarfism, excessively tall, handicapped, blind, deaf, etc)
